At Valmontone, approximately 50 kilometres from central Rome, you’ll find one of Italy’s largest theme parks. It’s MagicLand, previously known as Rainbow MagicLand, which opened in 2011.
The park boasts around 40 attractions, suitable for children of all ages and adults alike. This makes a day at MagicLand the perfect outing for the whole family – an ideal opportunity to take a break from Rome and its monuments, and enjoy a day of pure fun.

The MagicLand theme park stretches from a central entrance where the ticket booths are located. Once through, you’ll walk along the Main Street where most of the facilities are situated, leading to the main entrance, marked by a large arch.
The park features approximately 40 attractions divided into three categories: for children, for everyone, and for thrill-seekers. Some are only accessible from a certain height, typically 140 cm.
Among the attractions for thrill-seekers are adrenaline-pumping rides such as the Wild Rodeo frisbee, the indoor roller coaster Cagliostro, and the Haunted Hotel – an indoor zombie-infested hotel experience perfect for those seeking an adrenaline rush – plus a traditional roller coaster and a vertical drop tower.
The attractions for children are perfect for entertaining the little ones, and come in all varieties. These include the Jungle Camp, Italy’s largest playground, and Motorgiungla, a children’s driving school featuring both practical and theoretical driving courses.
Finally, the attractions for everyone are ideal for families: they range from leisurely boat trips on MagicLand’s lake to Europe’s largest planetarium, where you can discover stars, galaxies and the universe. Some attractions also have significant educational value, such as Maison Houdini, where you can explore gravity and the vacuum, or the Gattobaleno Time Machine, a time machine that uses virtual reality to transport you to distant eras.
You can purchase your MagicLand admission ticket directly at the ticket office or online. With the latter option, you’ll have access to discounted tickets thanks to dynamic pricing, and most importantly, you’ll avoid queuing at the park entrance. We strongly recommend purchasing online.
Ticket prices depend on height: visitors (adults and children) taller than 140 cm require a full-price ticket, children between 100 cm and 140 cm are entitled to a reduced ticket, while children shorter than 100 cm enter free of charge.
Discounts are available for pregnant women, military personnel and over-65s. Entry is free for those with 100% disability and one accompanying person; those with 70-99% disability enter free whilst their companion pays the reduced rate; finally, those with disabilities below 70% are entitled to the reduced rate.
Tickets and passes purchased are non-refundable and cannot be amended for any reason. However, if you’ve purchased a fixed-date online ticket and can no longer use it, you can visit the park’s ticket office and pay the difference between your online price and the ticket booth price.
At the park’s ticket office, you can also purchase the Magic Pass, a wristband that allows you to skip queues at the main attractions by using a dedicated entrance. The park management makes a limited number of Magic Passes available each day, depending on visitor numbers.
In addition to standard admission tickets, you can purchase two types of pass, called Silver and Gold. They cost the same whether purchased online or at the ticket office, with the only difference being that online purchases are available 24/7. The rate is the same for both adults and children from 1 metre in height, whilst children under 1 metre enter free and therefore don’t require a pass.
The Silver Pass gives you unlimited visits to MagicLand, a complimentary visit to MagicSplash from Monday to Friday, and 30% off on subsequent visits. You’ll also receive discounts on parking and 10% off restaurants and shops.
The Gold Pass extends Silver Pass benefits to include free parking, a complimentary entry to Rome’s Biopark, a souvenir photo, a complimentary visit to the Haunted Hotel, and 20% off restaurants and shops. Additionally, the complimentary MagicSplash ticket is valid Monday through Sunday.
Special school group rates are available for groups of at least 15 participants with one free entry per 10 participants. These must be booked at least 5 days in advance by calling (+39)0695318700 or emailing info@magicland.it. Groups also benefit from special discounted menus at the park’s restaurants.
MagicLand is open from April to November, with a schedule that varies throughout the year. In April, May and early June, the park is open only on weekends and bank holidays. It remains open daily during the school holidays period, roughly from 10 June to 10 September. During October, the park transforms into Halloween theme, opening on weekends with special opening hours on 31 October for Halloween itself.
The main facilities offered by MagicLand to visitors are as follows:
MagicLand features 3 restaurants: the self-service Il Castello, the pizzeria Belvedere, and the fast-food Boccon Divino.
The restaurants are complemented by 4 bars (Yucatan, Camp Bar, La Cambusa and Osteria dei Templari) serving panini and pastries, and 8 kiosks each with their own specialities: you can enjoy fish and chips, hot dogs, sausages, smoothies and milkshakes, ice cream and granita.
An important aspect of MagicLand are the events and entertainment shows held throughout the park. Some run daily, others at set times only.
Events and shows held in the park’s theatres, such as the Gran Teatro or Music Hall, are suitable for all the family. To enjoy these, especially during peak season, we recommend arriving early: theatre doors open 30 minutes before the show starts, and late entry once the performance has begun is not permitted.
Among the most popular events and shows are the Gattobaleno welcome held daily at 10:30 on Main Street, Jungle Explorers in Tonga Area daily at 12:15, 14:00 and 16:30, and Psyco Emergency, an ambulance transporting patients escaped from a psychiatric hospital, packed with engaging entertainment. Finally, at sunset, Gattobaleno will stop to greet visitors on Main Street.
MagicLand is located very close to the Valmontone motorway exit on the A1 motorway, making it extremely easy to reach from anywhere in Italy.
From Rome’s city centre, simply head east until you reach the Grande Raccordo Anulare ring road, then follow signs for the A1 motorway, heading south towards the Valmontone exit. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes, covering just over 50 kilometres. Of course, you should account for potential traffic leaving the capital, especially during peak hours or weekends, which could add several tens of minutes to your travel time.
It’s also possible to reach MagicLand by public transport, although it’s not particularly convenient. Valmontone is served by a regional train line from Rome serving southern Lazio, with trains departing from Termini station heading towards Cassino. The Valmontone stop is approximately 30 minutes by train from Termini. Once there, you’ll need to take an intercity bus from Valmontone towards Colleferro and Latina. Get off at the via Casilina – Outlet stop and walk for about half an hour to reach MagicLand.
Some private transport companies or local travel agencies offer shuttle services from Rome to MagicLand and back.
City Card allow you to save on public transport and / or on the entrances to the main tourist attractions.
