Cinecittà World

Cinecittà World is an amusement park in Rome, centred on cinema and television. Located in Castel Romano, south of the city centre, it comprises 40 attractions and 7 themed areas. The entire park spans 300,000 square metres set within nature, with both outdoor and indoor sections, and includes the Aqua World water park, which is designed to become a standalone park in the future.

Opened in 2014 thanks to the initiative of Aurelio De Laurentiis and Diego Della Valle, the park also features numerous open-air theatres hosting fresh and thrilling shows. For this and countless other reasons, Cinecittà World represents the ideal break from Rome, especially for film and television enthusiasts, offering entertainment for the whole family and an activity you shouldn’t miss during a holiday in the capital.

Discovering Cinecittà World

The park is divided into 7 themed areas, containing a total of 40 attractions suited to all types of visitors.

• Cinecittà: the first area you encounter after entering. Beyond the Cabiria entrance portal lies a grand red curtain, leading to Cinecittà Street, which recreates 1920s New York. Featuring numerous restaurants, the Cinecittà World Shop for souvenirs and photos, it’s also where many events take place.
• Roma: the park’s area dedicated to ancient Rome, featuring a grand aqueduct, arches, columns and impressive temples. Home to some of the park’s most popular attractions, along with the Garden of the Gods where you can stroll through nature and enjoy an interesting exhibition.
• Spaceland: the science fiction zone; home to the Altair roller coaster, which will turn you upside down 10 times—an absolute European record. There are also attractions and rides for children, such as the fire engine and control tower.
• Far West: this Cinecittà World area is inspired by a typical Far West village, a frontier land of wooden houses, large crates, a mine, a small church and a cemetery. Here you’ll find the Horror House, the Assassin’s Creed VR attraction and a selection of rides for younger visitors.
• Adventure Land: in this adventure-themed zone you’ll spend most of your time in the park. It concentrates the majority of attractions, including the flying cinema Volarium, Jurassic War and the U-571 submarine.
• Aqua World: Cinecittà World’s water area is a park within a park! You can swim and spend a beach day just outside Rome: here you’ll find the enormous Cinepiscina, spanning 1,700 square metres with variable depth from 15 cm to one metre, plus water games, equipped beaches with free umbrellas and loungers, changing rooms, showers, toilets and lockers. Aqua World opens from June to September only.
• The Ice Kingdom: Italy’s first indoor snow park is located inside Cinecittà World, giving you the chance to play in the snow all year round, summer and winter. There are also 4 attractions suitable for adults and children of all ages.

Shows and Entertainment

Cinecittà World hosts numerous shows, with one every hour.

• Cinecittà Show: the park’s live welcome show, providing visitors with a warm greeting through characters like Spiderman, Jack Sparrow and Wonder Woman. Lasting 15 minutes, it takes place daily at Cinecittà Street.
• Motors, Camera, Action: a live stunt show inspired by the Fast & Furious saga, celebrating the famous action film on two and four wheels. Suitable for all the family, lasting 15 minutes, it runs daily at Adventure Land.
• Scary Tricks: a show revealing the secrets of horror films, a fun and interactive live comedy show, ideal for horror film fans and those wanting a good laugh. Lasting 15 minutes, it runs daily at Theatre 4.
• Far West Show: for all lovers of classic western atmosphere, this show is set in a frontier village called El Peròn, on the gold mining route. Lasting 15 minutes, it runs daily in the Far West area.
• Viva l’Italia: The main show at Cinecittà World is called Viva l’Italia, a 30-minute live music show celebrating the excellence of Italian made products, with dancers and actors to rediscover our heritage. It runs daily at Theatre 1.

Alongside the shows, Cinecittà World also hosts a series of entertainment activities:

• Cinepiscina Entertainment: Oscar-winning entertainment from the Cinecittà World cast moves to the pool, featuring water games and plenty of music. Running daily during summer from 14:30 onwards, there’s a completely safe zone for children with water just 15 centimetres deep.
• Transformer Entertainment: For all robot enthusiasts, the Transformer entertainment allows you to witness a car transforming into Bumblebee, a 5.5-metre-tall robot. It runs daily in Television Square.
• Jurassic War Entertainment: The animatronic dinosaur, star of the Jurassic War attraction, awaits you in the dedicated area every day for a great souvenir photo. But watch out for surprises, always on the agenda!

Opening Times

The Cinecittà World park opens at the beginning of spring. During March it’s open weekends only, in April and May it also opens on Mondays and public holidays, whilst from mid-June onwards it remains open daily from 11.00 to 19.00, with extended opening until 23.00 on Saturdays and mid-August weeks. Subsequently, from September to December opening times are 11.00 to 18.00 and the park stays open during weekends and Christmas holidays, until Epiphany.

Attractions are open from 11.15 until 15 minutes before closing. On days when the park is open until 23.00, attractions are guaranteed until 21.00.

Admission Tickets

Admission tickets can be purchased at the box office or online: with the latter option you get a small discount on the price, and there’s the added benefit of avoiding queues at the entrance. Children under 140 centimetres tall pay a reduced price, and there are also special tickets including an afternoon ticket with entry from 15.00 onwards, a family package for 2 adults and one minor, or a second family package for 2 adults and 2 minors.

The admission ticket includes access to all the park’s shows and attractions. To avoid queues at attractions, you can purchase a skip-the-line ticket, which allows entry through a dedicated entrance, bypassing the queue at over 20 attractions.

Season Passes and Combination Tickets

It’s also possible to purchase a season pass, which includes unlimited entry to Cinecittà World and Roma World for the entire season. There’s also a star version which includes skate rental, entry to paid attractions, parking and skip-the-line access, whilst for those who only want to park there’s a parking season pass, allowing unlimited parking for one vehicle throughout the season.

Finally, it’s possible to purchase a special park + hotel package, which includes both park admission tickets and accommodation at one of the partner 3 or 4-star hotels. You can select your arrival and departure dates and choose the hotel that best suits your family’s needs.

Tickets purchased online are open-dated, whilst ancillary services such as shuttles, parking or park + hotel packages are valid only for the selected date and cannot be modified or refunded under any circumstances.

Restaurants, Bars and Kiosks

Cinecittà World has numerous restaurants, bars and kiosks where you can eat throughout opening hours. In accordance with food safety regulations, outside food and drinks are not permitted.

• Roma Restaurant: a self-service restaurant set in ancient Rome, serving typical Roman cuisine.
• American Bar: the park’s central bar, where you can grab a coffee or eat deli products, plus breakfasts, snacks and ice cream, at lunch and dinner.
• Saloon: inspired by Tex-Mex culture, the Saloon offers grilled meats and plenty of draught beer.
• Charleston Restaurant: step back into 1920s New York with a stop at the park’s most elegant restaurant, set in swing and jazz atmospheres. You can enjoy recipes from New York’s first celebrated Italian chef, inspired by Mediterranean traditions from land and sea, plus a traditional pizzeria.
• Jurassic Bar: for all dinosaur enthusiasts, the Jurassic Bar offers refreshing drinks and sandwiches to satisfy hunger. Located in the Adventure Land area and open from 11.30.
• Aqua World Ristobar: If you’re in the Cinepiscina area and fancy something to eat or drink, head to Aqua World Ristobar, a classic beach kiosk open for breakfast, lunch and aperitifs.
• Cinecittà Café: Open from 9.30 daily, this elegant bar is located at Piazza Cabiria, the park’s entrance square, awaiting you with fresh breakfasts and pastries, right through to evening aperitifs.

Useful Services at Cinecittà World

Below are a series of useful information for your time at Cinecittà World.

The park has ample car parks for cars, motorcycles, buses and campers. Parking is chargeable, and it’s also possible to buy unlimited access valid for the entire season.

If you want to leave valuables in safekeeping, there are three points where lockers are available: outside the park, at Cinecittà Street and at Cinepiscina. You can purchase the service on-site or online at a discounted rate; the key is collected by presenting your voucher at the Cinecittà Shop.

During park opening hours, a first aid station is always available.

At the Charleston, Saloon and Roma restaurants, bottle warming services are available for the little ones, whilst at the reception desk at Cinecittà World Shop you can hire pushchairs and buggies. The service is not bookable, so availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. To take a buggy, you must leave an ID document as a deposit, which will be returned when you finish using it.

Inside Cinecittà World you can browse freely thanks to free Wi-Fi.

How to Get to Cinecittà World

Cinecittà World is located in Castel Romano, on Via Irina Alberti. From Rome’s city centre you can drive there in approximately 45 minutes, heading south on the SS148 state road accessed from the EUR district. The total distance is approximately 25 kilometres.

Alternatively, you can use public transport, though the journey is longer: first reach the Laurentina station on metro line B, then continue your journey on the suburban bus travelling from Rome Laurentina to Nettuno. The Castel Romano stop is just behind Cinecittà World park, however to reach the ticket office you’ll need to walk around as it’s on the opposite side.

A convenient shuttle service from Rome is also available, departing from the EUR Palasport metro station, in Viale America near the ATAC bus stop.
